The Real Prize of Goal-Setting

It's that time of year again where we all set big, lofty goals for ourselves…But let's be real – how often do we actually stick to them?

It's not that we don't want to, but often times, the journey towards our goals can be discouraging and filled with anxiety or pressure.

I know this firsthand with my own client, who had a goal to start her own business. She was so focused on the end result – having a successful company – that she forgot to make the journey enjoyable.

She worked long hours, sacrificed her personal life, and put immense pressure on herself to achieve her goal. As a result, she became burnt out and overworked.

But when we started working together and she began using her goals as a vehicle for who she was becoming, everything changed.

She started to see problems as exciting challenges rather than stress-inducing obstacles. She found a better work-life balance and was able to set boundaries. And most importantly, she truly enjoyed herself in the process.

So here's the deal – every goal is just a vehicle for us to become the kind of person we want to be.

So instead of just trying to check things off a list, ask yourself,

“Who do I need to become to achieve this thing?”

“What are the attributes I will cultivate within me that I can take with me for the rest of my life?”

These questions keep you focused on what matters. If you want to learn more about how to set goals that lead to personal growth and transformation, I'd love to chat with you.

As a relationship and business coach, I've helped countless clients turn their goals into a journey of self-discovery and growth.
